Thanks to an unexpected solar storm, the current space weather forecast says that the Northern Lights will be visible in many parts of Missouri and Illinois Sunday night.

This new forecast for the aurora borealis says the southernmost line for the Northern Lights being visible goes right through the middle of Missouri and Illinois as of this writing.

This is much further south than the forecast said earlier Sunday morning.

Let's be clear. It is very uncommon for the Northern Lights to be visible this far south in Missouri and Illinois. Skies must be clear even if the solar storm creates this brilliant light display over our heads.

I've checked multiple sources and even USA Today says the Northern Lights could be visible in 18 states Sunday night. Keep an eye on the northern skies and just maybe we'll get a big treat tonight.
