It was an investigation that started with very little fanfare. A task force was created in an effort to find out if bodies dumped in both Missouri and Illinois were the work of a serial killer and that effort is about to be featured on a true crime show.

I just saw this trailer shared by Oxygen today. It's a preview of "Bodies Dumped Across Illinois and Missouri Point to Potential Serial Killer" that will be featured on Oxygen True Crime TV. It tells the story of bodies that were found in 2000 and 2001 in the St. Louis area.

This graphic that was featured in the trailer shows the murders investigators eventually connected. By the time their research was complete, they realized that no less than a dozen victims lost their lives at the hands of just one person.

I remember years ago that Fox 2 St. Louis told the story of how investigators eventually tracked down a suspect they believed was "The Videotape Killer".  Their story said that this collection of murders were also featured on Cold Case Files on A&E. My understanding is that the main suspect in those killings took his own life before charges were brought against him. It will be interesting to see if this new crime story will have any new developments on cold cases that are now more than two decades old. You can check the Oxygen True Crime site for updates for when this full episode will be available for streaming.
