High-Speed Rail Proposal Targets Missouri Route
If this is approved, it could revolutionize travel across America. There's a proposal for a high-speed rail service and the planned route cuts straight across Missouri.
I first saw this interesting report shared by CDL Life, but the initial report seems to have derived from Newsweek. The proposal comes from AmeriStarRail which has some ideas about what a high-speed railroad crossing America might look like. They believe a railway route could allow someone to cross America from New York to Los Angeles in just 3 days. The middle of their proposed route goes straight across the northern half of Missouri.
How would a high-speed railway work?
According to the company's stated vision, first-class railways would travel anywhere from 160mph to 200mph. According to their map, that high-speed trip would make at least 2 stops in Missouri including one in Kansas City.
What's the holdup with turning this railway vision into a reality?
Newsweek reported that the idea was for the railway to kick off on May 10, 2026, but there are many hurdles. Every part of this route would require national and local approval which means a lot of red tape to cut through. Will it happen? It's certainly an interesting concept. I've always been a fan of railroads and something like this to revitalize that method of travel is exciting.
