Explorer Finds Rare Bone Fish Hook in Missouri Cave
You won't see something like this every day or perhaps even in a lifetime. An explorer has unearthed a rare bone fish hook in a southern Missouri cave and there's video to prove it.
I came across this compelling discovery that was shared on the Missouri sub-Reddit. It's a bone fish hook found in southern Missouri.

I searched for the original video as it was shared on TikTok and this is the closest I could find that's connected with what was shared on Reddit.
@forest_brown1 @bradyingalsbe got the best artifact of his life on a recent hunt. Pretty exciting moment to be a part of and couldn’t have happened to a better guy. Bone fish hooks are the holy grail of perishable artifacts!😵💫🎣 #fish #hook #artifact #epic #fyp ♬ original sound - 417_Caveman
Why is this bone fish hook so rare?
Bone is a fragile material. When you consider the fact that a fisherman perhaps hundreds or thousands of years ago used this hook, it's borderline miraculous that it would survive this long. It will be interesting if these cave explorers get the hook tested and dated by a museum or some type of official authority to determine its origins. Hopefully I'll get the chance to communicate with the guys that made this discovery. Congrats on one of the most unique finds in Missouri in a very long time.
