76 in Illinois Just Learned They’re Facing Imminent Job Layoffs
There's a new bulletin warning that 76 in Illinois just learned this week that they're facing an imminent job layoff beginning early in March according to a document just shared with the state.
If you woke up today and still have a job, you have a reason to be thankful. Many in Illinois this week found out they will have to find new employment. The Illinois Work Net site says that a WARN notice was filed with the state by Maclellan Integrated Services Inc. (at Rivian Automotive). The bulletin says that 76 will be laid off effective March 3, 2025.
I've reached out for clarification, but it's not clear if this layoff is at the Maclellan facility that is right on the Illinois border in western Indiana, their Normal, Illinois building or if it's their work directly with Rivian Automotive. According to Automotive Dive, Rivian laid off 10% of their workforce earlier in 2024.
The Center Square reported that production lines were reduced in late Fall of 2024 due to supply shortages. There's no word yet if there's any correlation between the announced layoffs from Maclellan and the cutbacks at Rivian. Maclellan offers industrial cleaning services so it's possible there is a connection with what's happening at Rivian and what they do.
