This has to be one of the most infamous titles any place could aspire to. What's it like to be the most dangerous neighborhood in an already dangerous metro area? There's a new hood in Kansas City that has just been handed the crown that on place wants.

Are you familiar with this part of the Kansas City area?

This is the Blue Valley part of Kansas City, Missouri which Roadsnacks has just named as the most dangerous neighborhood in Kansas City. They measured 117 neighborhoods in the area using their notorious "science" to decide which Kansas City place you need to avoid like the plague. I'm just gonna take a shot in the dark (no pun intended) and guess they baked a lot of violent crime numbers into the conclusion that Blue Valley is not a safe place to call home. Here are the numbers they shared:

  • Population: 1,129
  • Violent Crimes Per 100k: 1,149
  • Property Crime Per 100k: 11,601
  • Median Home Value: $47,300 (16th worst)
  • Median Income: $33,803 (30th worst)

I have many friends that have called Kansas City home over the years and my family used to visit the big city fairly frequently. While I don't hang with the rich and famous, the middle class folks I know don't regularly cruise through Blue Valley on purpose. That being said, if there really are 1,129 people that live in that brutally industrial part of Kansas City, that doesn't make them bad people. They're just trying to survive like the rest of us and unfortunately have to try and do it where violent crime is at its worst.
