There are two completely different Farmer's Almanacs that use completely different formulas to forecast weather and the almost never agree. This is an unusual exception. Both publications are in agreement that Illinois will see snow by Fall of 2025.

I won't assume you understand which almanac is which. There's the Old Farmer's Almanac and the New Farmer's Almanac. It's not completely unexpected that they both release their seasonal forecasts at similar times. What is completely unusual is their new forecast for the upcoming Fall season agrees on one theory: parts of Illinois will see snow by Fall.

What does the Old Farmer's Almanac say about Fall in Illinois?

For September, it says "Expect frequent rain, drizzle, and some early snow in the north". Looking at October, the Old Farmer's Almanac says "A mix of chilly rain and snow, especially in the north". Cooler temperatures than normal for Fall are a factor.

What does the New Farmer's Almanac say about Fall in Illinois?

The New Farmer's Almanac also points at possible wintery weather for Illinois in October saying "early snow in the north, with brief warm-ups late in the month". The "new" almanac also says the thermometer will be cooler than normal for Illinois during the early Fall months.

Whether you trust in what the Farmer's Almanacs say about future weather depends on whether you believe in lunar cycles and/or historical weather patterns. Both publications have different ways to decide what weather awaits us. Some laugh at this old school approach, but others swear by them. It won't be many weeks from now before we'll learn if they're right about what Illinois Fall will really be like.
