Mystery Winner at this Illinois Gas Station is Now a Millionaire

Monday is not normally a day most people look forward to, but this past Monday was very special for someone in Illinois. There's been a mystery Powerball winner in the Land of Lincoln who picked up a ticket at a tiny gas station and they're now a millionaire.

The Illinois Lottery has confirmed someone picked up a million dollar Powerball ticket at this gas station in Deerfield

This is the Mobil gas station located at 650 Waukegan Road in Deerfield. The Illinois Lottery says that a winning Powerball ticket was purchased here on Monday, December 22, 2025, but there's a tiny problem. They still don't know who the winner is as this million dollar prize is now listed on the Illinois Lottery Unclaimed Prizes page.

My guess is that the person who has this winning Illinois Lottery Powerball ticket knows they won, but they're probably getting their details together as they prepare for life as an almost millionaire (after Illinois and the federal government takes a big chunk for taxes, of course). Still, even after the taxman takes his unfair share, that's a humongous win for someone. Hopefully I'm right and they have their winning ticket in hand along with their newly-hired accountant and lawyer and this million dollar ticket isn't sitting in the floorboard of their vehicle. Would be a crying shame for an unchecked ticket to result in the loss of a million bucks.
