20 Missouri Towns Perfect for a Weekend Escape

Missouri has become famous for having many great vacation destination options, but some people overlook the fact that there are numerous awesome places when you just want to getaway for a weekend.

Since I was born and raised in Missouri, I tend to not be objective about my birth state. I've long believed that Missouri is underrated and sometimes gets a bad rap when national sites want to toss out negative narratives about where we live. In my opinion, one of the biggest positives about Missouri is that every region of the state has great getaway options. It's not just the more well-known places like southwestern Missouri or St. Louis or Kansas City, but every part of the state has outstanding places to escape for a weekend.

It's impossible to list all of the great Missouri weekend escape options, but I think this is a good starter list to plan your adventure in the state depending on what your preferences are. I was fortunate as an only child that my parents took me to nearly all of these Missouri towns when I was younger. That's one of the many reasons why I wanted my family to return to Missouri when we had the chance. Great place to live with stellar places if you only have the chance to visit for a couple of days.
