9-Year-Old Illinois Girl Hailed as Hero for Saving Her Mom’s Life
If you want something done right, let a 9-year-old do it. That proved true recently as a girl from Aurora, Illinois was honored by her city for being a hero when she saved her mother's life.
NBC News shared the inspiring story of 9-year-old Aria Lamen who was at home with her mom a few weeks ago when her mother collapsed. Aria called 911 and while she was waiting for paramedics to arrive calmly and coolly described her mom's situation. She even told the operator about her mom's allergies and what they had been doing when she passed out.
Oh, by the way. Aria is a very accomplished Girl Scout which helped prepare her for this life and death moment which she faced like a champ.
Her quick thinking and calm demeanor allowed first responders to have the information they needed to resuscitate Aria's mother when they arrived. The City of Aurora, Illinois responded by presenting her with the Mayor's Award of Excellence. They shared a video on their Facebook page recently celebrating what Aria did.
Well done, Aria Lamen of Aurora, Illinois. If only the rest of the world would learn lessons from you about being a hero no matter what your age happens to be.
