This 1950s “Time Capsule Kitchen” in Illinois Is Going Viral
Talk to a realtor and they will tell you that location is key when it comes to selling houses. Close behind location is the quality of the kitchen and its amenities.
Real estate agents know that kitchens play a big role in selling homes.
A home in Stockton, Illinois, just had its vintage kitchen highlighted on a Chicago area designer’s social media, and the public can’t get enough of it, making it go viral.

It has been labeled the “Time Capsule Kitchen” for its baby blue countertops and appliances, powder pink sink, plus the built-in and hidden features. Almost all of these appliances still work 70 years later. That alone is amazing.
A kitchen this modern deserves ballroom gowns and tuxedos.
In 1950s America top-end kitchens were designed with forward thinking features, like this one’s pop-up appliance shelf that was made to hold your mixer. There are hidden pull-out towel racks for dish cloths and towels on both sides of the sink. Hidden cutting boards to pull out from under the countertop, a built-in wall radio, a built-in spice rack that is far bigger than anything you’ve seen, a top-loading dishwasher, and a dumbwaiter too. These were all considered modern features for the mid twentieth century family.
