I don't know about you, but back-to-school shopping gets more expensive each year for me. That's why I am so grateful for the no-tax weekend in Missouri so I feel like I am saving a little bit of money.

Missouri's No Tax Weekend

I would if you could wait until the weekend of August 2 through the 4 for back-to-school shopping. That is the weekend Missouri will be holding its annual tax-free weekend. It's the one weekend each year we get a break on school supplies.

Items Included in MIsosuri's No-Tax Weekend

Not everything is available for the tax-free weekend. Here's a list of what you CAN purchase and save on.

  • Clothing
  • Schools Supplies
  • Personal Computers

Illinois does not offer a no-tax weekend (and never has) but offers a 1% low-rate tax so the tax rate will be 0%. Don't get excited this "tax break" is only applied to grocery items. Facepalm!

It may not be a huge savings, but every little bit counts. So, if you haven't been shopping yet just wait another weekend and save what you can on the above items, and if you were waiting and contemplating on getting a new computer next weekend might be the perfect time to take the leap and make that purchase.
