Is This Really Missouri’s Most Scenic Byway? Experts Say Yes

Once again, the so-called "experts" are weighing in on the best of the best in the Show-Me State, but I’m not convinced they got it right.

Don't get me wrong, their pick for the best scenic byway is undoubtedly beautiful. However, with so many breathtaking spots across Missouri, I can’t help but feel there are far better choices than a well-known highway.

Most Beautiful Scenic Byway in Missouri

First, I have never driven on the historic Route 66. Or maybe I have and didn't realize it. Ok. I've never gone out of my way to drive on Route 66 and take in the historical attractions along the route,

So when the experts over at Love Exploring proclaimed that the most beautiful scenic byway is Route 66, I feel like it has a bit of an advantage. Because it's such an historic road, of course it will be on this list. And because it's probably not like a major highway and less-traveled road, often recognized for its historical nature...sure I get it.

Going through several states, and along the way historical hotels and sites, I get why this is on the list, and always on a list (again unfair advantage). You're telling me there's no other byway to highlight other than the historical Route 66.

I guess I find that hard to believe.

There are so many beautiful byways in Missouri, and sure Route 66 is an amazing road to take, but I am sure that in the entire state of Missouri there is more than just this ONE byway that you can enjoy beautiful scenes to enjoy.
