The parent company of Outback Steakhouse, Bloomin' Brands, just announced they are closing 41 locations by the end of the year. OPuyt of those 41 locations several are in Iowa. The article does not say exactly which Iowa cities are about to lose a restaurant, but out of the 41 locations, 33 were closed last week.

CNN reports that,

The company didn’t release a list of closed restaurants. Local reports show that Outback locations in Pennsylvania, Iowa and every Outback restaurant in Hawaii recently shuttered. Bonefish Grill locations in New Jersey and Virginia also closed, plus at least three Carrabba’s locations in New York closed.

Now, many of these restaurants that are closing have had poor sales in the last few years which is why the closures are happening. There is good news. As they announced the closures of 41 locations the parent company also announced that they are opening 18 new restaurants across the nation.

So my hope to get another steakhouse in Quincy is revived. I've been a few times to an Outback Steakhouse it's about what you think a national chain would be. Here's hoping that a new sit-down location of any type will come to Quincy soon.
