Illinois Has a Wienie 500 Flavor Car to Root For
If you’ve ever seen (or been inside) an Oscar Mayer Wienermobile you’ve wondered how fast she goes. You may have even asked the driver or promo crew onboard about it. Answers will be had in Indy.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway
There are six Wienermobiles out there touring the United States each year. They are attention grabbers. A giant hot dog on wheels will tend to do that.
You couldn't ignore it if you tried
All of them will line up at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Friday afternoon May 23 at 1p (CDT) to see which “Hotdogger” has the best skill and Wienermobile.
Each Wienermobile will be representing a different region of the country flying the banner for that region’s hot dog style. The six include: Chi Dog representing the Midwest, Chili Dog covering the South, New York Dog for the East, Slaw Dog serving the Southeast, Seattle Dog racing for the Northwest, and Sonoran Dog showing out for the Southwest.

These specialized cars aren’t built for blinding speed, but they are all built the same. This puts the onus on the “Hotdogger” -or driver of the Wienermobiles. Pro racing drivers will not be behind the wheel. Those competing Friday will be the drivers who handle the vehicles day in and day out.
Hotdoggers
They understand their cars more than anyone. This adds to the intrigue. A race need not be dangerously fast to be competitive and entertaining.
