If you've watched the new Netflix docuseries about the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders then you know how tough it is to make the elite team. The new squad has been announced for their upcoming season, and a local cheerleader/dancer has made the team.

A Jacksonville, Illinois cheerleader, and dancer Ava Lahey was just announced as a rookie for the 2024-2025 Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders squad. In the docuseries on Netflix (America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders), hundreds of girls try out (even returning veterans) and only 36 make the team.

According to the Jacksonville Journal-Courier, Lahey also tried out in 2021 but did not make the team. However, this year after trying out again she was invited to be on the team and join Amercia's Sweethearts.

I'm not a Cowboys fan, but I have a funny feeling you're going to be seeing a lot of Cowboy logos around the Jacksonville area if you visit during the season. A BIG congrats to Ava, I know from watching the docuseries, that trying out is not easy, and what an accomplishment it is to be a part of an elite and historic squad.
