Quincy Illinois Native Returns from for a Short Film Showcase
Brooke Trantor loves her hometown of Quincy, Illinois. The Quincy High graduate went to Illinois Wesleyan for college, then ventured to London to study Shakespeare at the British American Drama Academy. She has been in L.A. for over a decade, and has appeared on TV shows and movies you’ve may have seen including: HBO’s “Perry Mason”, NBC’s “The Enemy Within”, and the films “Misfits” and “The Last Word”. She is also a director, and has several short films to her credit, and will be bringing a handful of them to the State Street Theater on Saturday December 20th, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Those shorts include the award-winning “Oh, Baby” and “Yours are Mine”, along with “Shadow Work”, “Move On, Arnold”, “Ashes, Ashes We All Fall Down”, and “Nut Milk in May”. Trantor will follow the showcase with a question and answer session, and post-screening drinks.
Brooke admits there is a through-line across these short films: a theme of ‘The resilience of women'. Trantor has lived this theme. She didn’t go to film school. She learned by doing. Onstage, on set, and on purpose, as life is the best teacher. There is a difference between in-class theory and practical application. Brooke has volumes of the latter. She’s immersed herself in the medium of performance and telling stories.

Her plans are to shoot a feature film in Quincy that would be a love letter to her hometown. Quincy, Illinois is a unique place. No matter how far you go, Quincy is never far away from your heart, mind and soul. If you doubt that, it won’t be long before someone pops up to remind you that wherever you are, Quincy is there too.
