What Illinois Women Want Him to Smell Like on Valentine’s Day
Engaging the senses is key when you are interacting with the opposite sex. This is why we take time to choose specific clothes and shoes, keep our hair a certain way, and make sure our breath isn’t offensive. You want to smell nice when a special person gets in close proximity. Ladies, you know what your nose likes. Make sure your guy wears a scent you enjoy.

In Illinois, top-selling colognes for Valentine’s Day include: Azzaro – The Most Wanted. Listed as the cologne to choose for date night. Full disclosure I got a bottle of this and my wife hated it. It is a spicy, warm, winter scent. I thought it was pleasant. Her nose said no. I gave it to my son.
Want something more upscale? How about Louis Vuitton – Lovers. Very expensive, especially for a subtle and friendly cologne with hints of ginger, sandalwood and cedarwood. Labeled as “the scent of light with the intensity of luminous woods”. High end enough that you can get the bottle personalized with your guy’s initials.
If you prefer something that reminds you of spring or summer, Giorgio Armani – Acqua Di Gio is a solid choice. It favors neroli and tangerine with bergamot and jasmine. Light and refreshing. I’ve been wearing this one for several years. Always makes things brighter.
Finally, Yves Saint Laurent – Y is bright and elegant. It evokes youth to me. So, maybe not the choice for the man with grown children, but YSL always delivers fragrant products, and this one folds into their stable nicely.
A man should always have seasonal colognes on his shelf. Something for spring and summer. Something for fall and winter. He should also have a base cologne that is his signature. Something like Chanel – Bleu, or Tom Ford – Ombre Leather. Make sure he smells good. Not just on Valentine’s Day -- but everyday.
