According to funworldfacts.com, 3 out of every 4 people who live in the state of Illinois (or 75% of the population of the state) live in the Chicagoland area. This means 25% of the population of Illinois lives in the rest of this quiet large state. I would argue that only 25% of people who live in Illinois actually live in Illinois.

I am uniquely built to make this case. I was born in Chicago, raised in the suburbs, went to college in a rural part of Illinois, moved to Chicago, and was living near Wrigley Field for 5 years, and then moved to rural Quincy, Illinois almost four years ago. I HAVE LIVED IT ALL in Illinois.

My argument is when you live in Chicago OR the Chicagoland suburbs, you are not really IN Illinois, life up there is so different from life downstate. 3/4ths of the population of Illinois lives in Chicagoland, not Illinois.

Whereas if you live in Springfield, Quincy, Quad Cities, Peoria, Carbondale, and all the small towns in between you live in Illinois, therefore only 25% of the people who live in Illinois really live in Illinois, do you know what I'm saying?

I know this is silly and ridiculous but I think many people who are a part of the 25% agree with me. I wouldn't gave agreed with me 5 years ago when I lived in Chicago, but I see it now. I love Chicago, and Chicagoland, I will always consider that my home and where I am from because even though I was born in Chicago, Illinois, I didn't start living in Illinois until I moved to Quincy...Make sense?
