It's one thing to say a place is haunted. It's quite another when it's been declared "certified haunted", but that's exactly the case for a haunted Missouri castle where over 100 have died.

This is the Pythian Castle in Springfield, Missouri. Even the official Missouri Tourism website has declared this place "certified haunted". The Springfield city site agrees and adds that this castle was built first as an orphanage in 1913, but was later ruled by the military where many prisoners of war existed.

Ghost Adventures from the Travel Channel visited the Pythian Castle and documented the residual energy from decades of suicides and what they described as "violent spirits who seem to mimic the living and deliver fatal premonitions".

Just prior to the end of October last year, a group did a new investigation of the Pythian Castle and found that very little has changed. If anything, the castle has gotten more sinister.

The official website for the Pythian Castle notes that they offer special guided tours where you will hear the stories behind what has given this Missouri location such a notorious fame. They even offer a very twisted (but in a good way) escape room type of experience called Officer's Lockdown. Better to escape...or else.

In case you're curious about what it takes to become a certified haunted place, an official ghost hunting group has to make that proclamation. When it comes to Pythian Castle, all of them seem to agree. There is something devious present still in this sad castle.
