A $35 million settlement has been made after Snapchat was accused of breaking the new Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, which collected users' information without their knowledge. If you have Snapchat and have used wither lenses or filters (which I am sure all of us have at some point) now is the time to put in your claim.

You have until November 5, 2022, to put in your claim which only takes about 5 minutes to fill out. I received a message yesterday on my Snapchat account notifying me of the settlement and giving me a code to enter when I filed my claim. You do not need the code, you can fill out a claim without an email or code.

NBC Chicago 5 reports that,

The lawsuit claimed the social media platform, which allows users to communicate through short videos and images called “snaps,” collects, stores and shares users’ unique facial features and voices without first providing required disclosures about how the information will be used and for how long, according to Classaction.org

Much like the Facebook settlement, (which was a $650 million settlement) users can see money deposited into their accounts. There is no report as to when the money will show up in Snapchat users' accounts and what amount people will receive. I didn't fill out the Facebook claim but I made sure to fill out this one.
