If you’re raising a family in Illinois where do you need to live?
Having a family is a big decision, deciding where to raise that family is an even bigger decision, one website ranked the top counties in Illinois to raise a family, and here is what they found.
There is a website called stacker.com and they took the time to rank the Best Counties to Raise a Family in Illinois, and the county that ended up on the top of the list wasn't a surprise to me at all. DuPage County takes the top spot for the best county to raise a family in Illinois, just ahead of Lake County, and Kane County, all three of which are counties that surround Chicago's Cook County.
So why DuPage County over the others? Well, stacker.com gives a bunch of statistics to back up their decision like incomes, rental prices, homeownership stats, but also dives into the towns in the county that are terrific like the heavily awarded suburb Naperville, along with Hinsdale, and Clarendon Hills. I have no real arguments for a lot of the counties near or at the top of this list, the suburban Chicago county I grew up in Mchenry county is ranked 8th on the list which I think is well deserved. BUT I will say I was very disappointed to see that Adams County, the home of Quincy, IL where I live now, didn't make the list... I truly believe if you are looking to be a young up and coming finance person out of college avoid Adams County, but if you are someone wanting to settle down, buy a home, and start a family, well then Adams County should be in the top 25 of the counties in Illinois. What do you think?
