There is nothing more heroic or selfless you can do than putting your life on the line to save someone else. That's what happened with a Missouri teen this past weekend as he drowned will saving the life of his younger brother.
The Kansas City Star reports that 18-year-old Alex Harris of Oregon, Missouri was swimming with his family in the Missouri River on Saturday, July 23. Alex became aware that his little brother was in trouble, so he made his way to him and kept him afloat until his mother could rescue him. His dad, Tyson Richard Harris, said that Alex then went underwater and did not reappear until rescuers found his body some time later.
The Missouri Highway Patrol confirms Alex heroic effort that saved his brother's life.
Alex was reportedly a student at South Holt High School in Oregon, Missouri. The school had a candlelight vigil in his honor Sunday. The Kansas City Star reports that hundreds attended.
