As freezing rain came into the area early New Year’s morning and ice buildup caused tree limbs to fall onto power lines, reports of power outages began to come in to BPW officials.

BPW crews worked almost continuously from Friday morning through Sunday night, restoring power to thousands of customers.

Hannibal crews received mutual aid from work crews from Columbia, Harrisonville, Macon and Rolla during the weekend.

BPW reported Sunday night their emergency restoration efforts have been downgraded to monitoring and individual response status.

Officials say the only services still in need of restoration are ones needing significant repair before crews can reconnect.

Crews remain on stand-by to respond to reconnections or isolated outages.
