We recently wrote about some of the area's former businesses that we would like to see re-open. The topic was widely discussed on Facebook, and several of our friends started mentioning former restaurants. What former area restaurants do you wish would come back? Here are five on my list.

Breadeaux Pizza

There is a Breadeaux Pizza in Palmyra, but the Hannibal location closed a while back. I enjoyed being able to go out for pizza, and then catch a movie at Main Street Cinema 8 within walking distance of Breadeaux Pizza.

Hardee's on Mark Twain Avenue

I know, I know. There are three Hardee's in Quincy and two in Hannibal. Palmyra has one. So does Monroe City, Pittsfield, Bowling Green, Louisiana ... they're not hard to find. But it was awfully handy having a drive-thru just around the corner from the KHMO studios. On the other hand, we now have a Subway that we can walk to from KHMO, so maybe it's not that big a deal.

Krieger's

It's nice to have a place to stop for a sit-down meal when you're in the mall. Diamond Dave's was on one end of the mall for years, then Krieger's opened near the costumer service area at the center of the mall. Unfortunately, there is not a sit-down restaurant currently occupying any of the mall spaces.

Lakeview Restaurant

We used to have business lunches regularly at Lakeview. Good food, neat place. Lots of fun to sit outside by the lake when it's nice. I'd like to see someone open up a restaurant at this location sometime in the future. It's too nice of a location to remain vacant.

TGI Friday's

I didn't even realize how much I missed TGI Friday's until I stopped by one in the St. Louis area several weeks ago. My 10-year-old niece was with me. Both of our meals were great. Especially the vanilla bean cheesecake. Vanilla bean cheesecake is hard to beat.
