Drone Shows and Helps Missouri Firefighters Battling Factory Fire

It's a fire from a perspective you don't normally get to see. A drone video showed brave Missouri firefighters battling a fire at an abandoned factory. The twist is that the firefighters used the drone to help them contain the blaze.

Fox 2 St. Louis shared compelling video of a structure fire in Jennings, Missouri late last week that had a dozen departments respond to. Toward the end, the include some drone video that actually assisted the firefighters.

According to a share on Yahoo, this building used to be an old bowling ball factory. It's been abandoned for some time apparently. In the video, battalion chief Wes Morgan said that the drone perspective helped their ladder trucks maneuver to get the fire out quicker and more efficiently. I would go so far as to wonder if this new technology could potentially save lives by helping the fire departments see hazards they might not see.

Drones were credited a few years ago with helping firefighters in California that were battling wildfires in their state.

Some of the more advanced models can be directly involved with slowing these fires.

Technology gets a bad rap and sometimes deservedly so with some of society's ills. But, it's advancements like this assisting firefighters that shows it is something that can be used for infinite good also.
