If you ask Kenny Chesney he would say "Virginia is for Lovers" BUT it may in fact actually be the state of Iowa that is for lovers.

Iowa apparently is for lovers, well at least the Lover's Leap Swinging Bridge is, the bridge is slightly terrifying and has a unique story to go with it! According to atlasobscura.com there is a bridge in the south east part of Iowa, called Lover's Leap Swinging Bridge, and it is the perfect thing to take your adventure loving date to!

The site says the bridge, that is in Columbus Junction, Iowa which is only 114 miles north of Quincy, IL, is a pedestrian swinging bridge at the Lover's Leap Ravine, and to see pictures of this incredible bridge click here! Now as far as the story that goes with "Lover's Leap" the site says...

"No one really knows how the ravine came to be known as Lovers Leap, but the most often told tale is of a love-sick maiden, her lover killed in battle, threw herself to the bottom to end her grief...that story has some traction too. It’s said that the maiden is buried at the bottom, and if you cross over at night you can hear her mournful cries."

Another site called onlyinyourstate.com says the the bridge is over 260 feet long, and has been rebuilt a couple of times. They also have more pictures of the bridge that you can check out by clicking here!

I know we have a gorgeous Lover's Leap in Hannibal, that you have to check out if you haven't, so it's cool to think of other states having similar stories and features. Although the bridge looks slightly scary, it would be a lot of fun to go on an adventure with that special someone!
