What does Illinois do better than any other state in the US? And What does Illinois do worst than any other state in the US? One website set out to answer these questions, and in my opinion, they came up with some decent answers.

The website rd.com, Readers Digest, set out to put together a list of whatever state in the country is best at and whatever state is worst at, and here is what they came up with for the Land of Lincoln.

Readers Digest says that Illinois is BEST at... Pumpkins! In the article they say...

"All those pumpkin-flavored treats you love in the fall wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for Illinois, where 95 percent of everyone favorite gourds in the United States are grown."

As for what Illinois is WORST at, the site says... Bug Bites.

"Just make sure you spray a lot of insect repellant on before you head out to the pumpkin patch. The Midwestern state has some of the highest rates of mosquito-related illnesses (including West Nile virus) and tick-borne diseases like Lyme’s."

I feel like bug bites is a cop-out... there are plenty of other things I would guess Illinois is worst for like Pot Holes, Curropt Politicians, and gas prices. But I will say that being best at pumpkins is a cool thing, everyone loves pumpkins, and pumpkin-spiced things in the fall. Just think if it wasn't for Illinois pumpkins you wouldn't be able to go to Starbucks for your pumpkin-spiced lattes!
