This Veteran's Day weekend will be filled with activities to attend. There is the Veteran's Parade Saturday at 10 a.m. on Maine Street, the Veteran's Day Ceremony at Lippincott Hall at the Illinois Veteran's Home Tuesday at 10 a.m. and a new event to check out, the Field of Honor at the Illinois Veteran's Home from Friday night through Veteran's Day on Tuesday.

The Field of Honor, which is 1,000 American Flags arranged in rows and columns, will be on display at the Illinois Veterans Home over the entire Veterans Day weekend. It is a project of the Quincy Exchange Club with the help of multiple sponsors.

The 1000 flags will also be used for the Exchange Club's "Flags of Honor" program which will follow next summer. For $30 a year, a homeowner can subscribe to have an American flag set up at their residence from dawn ’til dusk on Memorial Day, Flag Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. They will also have their flag placed in next year’s 2015 Field of Honor on Veteran’s Day weekend.
