Adams County Deputies say two people escaped from a submerged vehicle after it crashed Saturday night.

The crash happened at 10:42 p.m. on Knapheide Road, 300 feet west of the levee. Deputies say 23-year-old Jeremy Roberts of Quincy was driving west on Knapheide Road when he swerved to miss a deer. His pickup ran off the road and came to rest completely submerged in a drainage ditch. Roberts and a passenger were able to exit the truck and swim to shore.

Roberts suffered minor injuries and went to Blessing Hospital by private vehicle. His passenger was uninjured.
