A Mexico, Missouri man goes to jail after the Highway Patrol says he caused a three-vehicle crash on US 54 near Audrain County Road 485.

Troopers say a westbound car driven by 30-year-old Joshua Lipscomb of Mexico crossed over into the eastbound lanes just before 6 p.m. Saturday. Lipscomb’s car crashed into the towed unit of an eastbound pickup driven by 53-year-old Michael Joynt of Edelstein, Illinois.

A second eastbound vehicle driven by 61-year-old John Walkup of Palmyra attempted to avoid the oncoming car by swerving to the left, but his van struck the Lipscomb car at an offset. Two passengers in the Walkup van, 57-year-old Mark Miller of Monroe City and 56-year-old Sonja Walkup of Palmyra suffered minor injuries and went to SSM St. Mary’s in Mexico.

Troopers charged Lipscomb with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Assault 2nd Degree, Driving While Intoxicated, Failure to Drive on the Right Half of the Roadway, and Operating without Headlights when required.  Lipscomb was taken to the Audrain Co. Jail.
