The cost of a gallon of unleaded regular gas continues to fall across the nation and here at home.

On Wednesday, gas prices in Hannibal fell to $2.99 a gallon for the first time in a while. Prices have been tumbling this week, with prices standing at $3.12 on Monday.

The trend of falling prices at the pump is nationwide. According to Gas Buddy Dot Com, the national average for gas is $3.26. That's seven cents cheaper than a week ago and a 17 cent drop from a month ago.

Gas Buddy says the average price of gas in Missouri is at its lowest level of 2014. The statewide average as of Thursday morning is $2.98, 13 cents cheaper than a week ago and 23 cents cheaper than a month ago.

The cheapest gas in Missouri is $2.74 in Cameron. The most expensive is in Savannah, where gas is $3.45 a gallon.

In Illinois, the statewide average gas price is also going down, approaching its lowest level of the year at $3.37. That's down nine cents since last week, and down 27 cents in the last month.

In Quincy, most outlets report a price of $3.19 a gallon for regular unleaded.

The cheapest gas in the Land of Lincoln is $2.94 in Streator. The highest is $4.79 in Park Ridge.
