The 32nd annual chili cook-off at the Admiral Coontz Armory in Hannibal will be back in February, with proceeds benefiting the Great River Honor Flight.

The theme for this years February 21 event is "Cirque Du Chili" and entertainment will be provided by theatrical circus duo Mango and Dango. The performances will feature acro-stilting, stilt characters, acrobatic partner dancing, chair stacking, aerial performance juggling, hoop dance, mime and more.

The chili cook-off is open to the first 25 individuals or non-profit organizations to sign up by February 4. The entry fee is $25. Cash prizes of $1000 for first place, $500 for second place and $250 for third will be awarded for the best chili. Cash awards of $250 for first place and $150 for second place will also be given for the best costumes using the Cirque Du Chili theme.

The event is sponsored by Golden Eagle Distributing who will be serving Budweiser products. The Hannibal Jaycees will handle domestic and craft beer sales, and the Centennial Circle of Kings Daughters will have soda, coffee and other food items for sale.

Doors will open the day of the event at 11:00 a.m., with chili sampling starting at noon. The chili cook-off will end at 7:00 p.m. Admission for the public is just $5. You must be 21 to get in.
